Categories
The Awards will celebrate the music of today’s composers living and working in the United Kingdom and also UK premières of work by composers from outside the UK.
The categories for 2O11 are as follows:
Instrumental Solo or Duo
Chamber (three or more instruments written for one player per part)
Vocal (solo voice(s) unaccompanied or with accompaniment from a single instrument up to orchestra)
Choral (a cappella or accompanied including choir and orchestra)
Wind Band or Brass Band
Orchestral
Stage Works
Liturgical (for works used in the context of an act of worship of any faith)
Sonic Art (for example live electronics, interactive installations, collaborative multi-media performance)
Contemporary Jazz Composition
Community or Educational Project
Making Music Award
International Award
Nominations are for works that have received their UK première between 1 April 2010 and 31 March 2011.
Submissions are welcomed from all those involved with the promotion, publication and performance of new classical and jazz music and may include music of any origin. It is hoped that the submissions will reflect the wide cultural diversity of the UK today.
Winning works will be recognised by a presentation to the composer at the Awards ceremony and will be the focus of a BBC Radio 3 broadcast about the Awards on Sunday 4 December 2011.
