    Thomas Larcher

    Composer Biography

    Thomas Larcher was born in Innsbruck in 1963. He studied at the Musikhochschule in Vienna between 1981 and 1986.

    In 1994 he established the festival Klangspuren in Tyrol. In 2004, he went on to establish the Festival of Swarovski Crystal Worlds Music in the Giant in Wattens. He taught piano at the Musikhochschule in Basel from 2001 to 2004.

    Work Concerto for Violin, Cello and Orchestra

    About this work

    Concerto for Violin, Cello and Orchestra was commissioned by the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra.

    Its UK premiere took place on the 18th August 2011 at the Royal Albert Hall, London, where the piece was performed by Viktoria Mullova (violin), Matthew Barley (cello), Christof Dienz (electric zither), Luka Juhart (accordion), Martin Brandlmayr (percussion), and Thomas Larcher (piano).
