Matthew Martin studied at Magdalen College, Oxford and the Royal Academy of Music. He is frequently commissioned to write for prominent ensembles, most recently BBC Singers, the choirs of Westminster Abbey, St Paul’s Cathedral, Chester Cathedral, St John’s College, Cambridge, and Magdalen College, Oxford. Upcoming projects include new works for the Sixteen, the Gabrieli Consort and a new choral work for the American Guild of Organsts. His work is now published exclusively by Faber Music.
In addition to his work as a composer, Matthew was Assistant Master of Music at Westminster Cathedral from 2004-2010 and has also held positions at New College, Oxford, and Canterbury Cathedral. He conducts the Nave Choir at the annual Edington Music Festival and is Organist at the London Oratory.
I Saw the Lord is a choral piece and is a setting of words from Isaiah chapter 6. It had its UK premiere on the 6 June 2012 at St David's Cathedral performed by the St David's Cathedral Choir.
