    Composer Biography

    Stuart Hancock studied at Downing College, Cambridge and at the London College of Music, where he graduated with distinction from the Masters course in Composing for Film and TV.   In 1999, he was hired as an in-house composer with music production company Mcasso, where he wrote and produced music for all commercial media.

    Now a busy freelance London-based composer and orchestrator of music for film, TV and concert projects, Stuart won the prestigious Jerry Goldsmith Award for Best Composer in 2013, and won a further two category awards in the 2014 edition.

    Work Snapshot Songs

    About this work

    Snapshot Songs song-cycle is based on the idea of capturing the zeitgeist, or the spirit of the age, and the tradition of the song-cycle in which a collection of songs are designed to be performed together. Snapshot Songs celebrates London today, this gritty and great city and the people who live in it.

    Snapshot Songs was commissioned by The SHM Foundation as part of their composer-in-residence programme, and delivered in partnership with Barbican Guildhall Creative Learning. It was premiered on 13th April 2014 at Milton Court, Barbican, London by the Snapshop Songs Choir, fifteen drummers, the London Schools Symphony Orchestra and soloists and spoken word artists from across London.
